I was able to build precious friendships with people I have met, when I participated in the college acapella group and a fellowship in the local church. Our bonds had turned the sunless and gloomy English winter from unbearable to enjoyable. EXPLORATION OF EUROPE PRECIOUS FRIENDSHIPS The unexamined life is not worth living, once said by Socrates, the founder of Western philosophy. In the Faraday programme, we examined the two disciplines that hold the power to influence minds and change the world -- science and religion , by diving deep into their epistemology and their historical development. We learnt about how philosophers of science describe the ways of generating scientific knowledge, e.g. by logical positivism, empiricism and paradigm shifting, and how theologians relate faith and rationality. These understandings helped build the foundation for our discussion about the relationship between science and religion. Our learning extended beyond the discussion about whether they are antagonistic, which prevails in the popular discourse but not necessarily the academic one, and brings us on a magic carpet ride, surverying various topics in philosophy and theology. More specifically, we examined how scientific discoveries impacted the philosophical and theological landscape, especially in topics about evolution, mind-body dualism and artificial intelligence.
