MBBS Enrichment Year 2019/20 Lui Kwan Lok Sem 1 < IC - HKUWW Exchange Programme at University College London, UK >; Sem 2 < IC - M inor in Psychology at HKU, Hong Kong > Lui Kwan Lok Lui Pak Kiu Michael Semester 1 – Exchange at Manchester During my time at the University of Manchester, I took 6 modules covering topics such as leadership, sustainability, developmental psychology, biomedical imaging, anatomy and post-genome biology. I had the opportunity to learn more about transcriptomics and its applications on medicine. I also did a presentation on an lncRNA called FIRRE. I also had the chance to visit 26 cities in 10 different countries, exploring a wide range of culture and cuisines. All of the trips were thoroughly enjoyable but Portugal is definitely one of my favourites. As a football fan, it was a dream come true to live in a city that houses two of the biggest teams in the country. Semester 2 – Volunteering at mother's choice My main responsibility during the service attachment was to conduct a self-initiated project under the Early Intervention framework of Mother’s Choice. I chose to conduct an Attachment-Oriented Project, which pays a particular focus on strengthening infant-caregiver attachment to foster trust, positive mental health and self- regulation in the child. In addition, I helped with revising the CCH parenting training program and drafted the framework of the “First 100 Days program”. Apart from office work, I spend an hour every day taking care of babies and children. Responsibilities include nappy changing, playing with babies and patting them to sleep. I was also assigned with the task of feeding a premature baby every morning so I could help with monitoring his developmental progress over the course of my attachment.
