There are currently 200,000 female sex workers, who are from the mainland China, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Thailand. They work in one-woman apartments, karaoke, nightclubs and massage parlors. Sexual Health Clinic The sexual health clinic at AFRO, provides free gynecology examinations for FSWs with the help of volunteer doctors, including pap smear, rapid AIDs and sexually transmitted diseases testing, such as Syphilis. Advocacy FSWs as a severely marginalized and discriminated minority, often feel inferior due to their occupation. AFRO believes sex work is also work and aims to advocate for equal rights of sex workers through education and publication work.
