MBBS Enrichment Year 2018-19

Semester 1: electives and common cores I have applied kinesiology courses and common core courses in HKU during the first semester. The variety of courses provides exposure on biomedical science, literature, philosophy and architecture. Significance of Kinesiology courses The course contents are relevant to my future medical practice because it allows me to understand how exercise can affect the physiology thus the potential benefit on metabolic diseaes like diabetes mellitus. They also provide knowledge about motor learning and control which are helpful for me to provide care for patients who need to relearn certain movements. These equip me to provide a holistic patient care in the future. Semester 2: Logos Hope In the second semester, I will be joining the Logos Hope, sharing knowledge, help and hope to communities in South America. As well gaining exposure to global churches phenomenon Experience in the Logos Hope The three months in onboard is a multicultural experience as the ship hosts 400 people from 60 countries sharing one goal, to tell the hope that the Christian faith provides. As we have opportunities reach out to the local communities, I served in different places, from the ship to child retention center, or from churches to schools. Significance As I involved in the ministry, I have learned about religion persecution. Meanwhile, I have experienced how a good faith can grant relief to struggles as I have witnessed people finding peace and joy in the faith. This experience allows me to reach a deeper understanding of the importance of spiritual health. Combining the above significances, there is a need of promoting freedom of religion as there are multiple countries that persecutes Christianity and 41.5% of the global population are unexposed to the Christian faith. Challenges Such a vast culture diversity within a small place can be overwhelming sometimes. Culture shock was a challenge during my time onboard and simply because of the background, the interpretations and perspective can vary extremely and may cause conflicts.
