Themes
The
Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong is pleased to hold
a Symposium cum Workshops on 'Assessment in Medical Education:
Asian and International Perspectives', with the Asian Medical Education
Association (AMEA) and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (HKAM) as affiliated
organizers.
The Symposium and Workshops
will provide an opportunity for exchange of experience and views as
well as training of medical educators in different aspects of assessment.
There will be sessions covering assessment models and tools for medical
education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a specific
session on 'professional assessment' to address professional training
of doctors.
The themes of the Symposium
are as follows:
- Philosophy of assessment
- Models of assessment
- Standardization of assessment
- Undergraduate and postgraduate assessment
- Medical education outcome assessment
Concurrently held with the
Opening Ceremony of the Symposium and Workshops will be the inauguration
of the Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education (IMHSE) of
the Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong. The IMHSE is
a new initiative of the Faculty to promote excellence, professionalism,
innovation and collaboration (EPIC) in medical and health sciences education.

Each workshop will be conducted
twice. English will be the medium of instruction for sessions conducted
on October 30, while bilingual sessions in both English and Putonghua
will be run on October 31. Workshop material will be presented in both
English and Chinese.
