Laboratory Animal Unit

The Laboratory Animal Unit (LAU), established in 1979, serves the primary function of breeding specific pathogen free laboratory animals for research and teaching and provides centralised animal holding and surgical facilities for biomedical research.  It also provides advice and services in relation to laboratory animal veterinary and science .  The LAU was awarded full accreditation status by AAALAC International (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International, in 2004 <>.
