A 1-day International Symposium on 'Hong Kong's Health Financing Reform' will be organized by the Medical and Health Research Network (MHRN) of the University of Hong Kong to explore, discuss and debate the pros and cons of the proposed Hong Kong's upcoming health financing reform. The major objective of the International Symposium is to provide an evidence-based platform for the open exchange of experience and views on how best to achieve a sustainable, equitable and efficient health care system for better population health in Hong Kong. The Secretary for Food and Health has been invited to deliver the opening address and world leaders in health financing are scheduled to deliver plenary addresses.

Following each plenary, a panel of local experts and top-level policymakers will make a short presentation to contextualize the thematic content and to outline their
views, followed by an interactive forum discussion open to the audience. The conference aims to provide an opportunity for students, academics, health care professionals, government officials, politicians, and the general public to better understand the context of Hong Kong's health financing reform and the need for change.
