The First Asian-Pacific Cardiology Forum
ICSM is organizing the above meeting with the support of Parke-Davis.
This will be held in Osaka, Japan, on 1-3 October 1999. The meeting
will involve case conferences and formation of consensus guidelines
on the management of difficult cases in cardiology. Members are
invited to apply to join this forum. Registration is free but places
are limited and priority will be given to clinicians involved in
the management of cardiac patients. Please read the enclosed announcements

3rd Annual Scientific Meeting
The next meeting will be held on Saturday, 30th October 1999 at
the Hong kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Please read the
enclosed announcement for details and send in the registration/abstract
form. We would strongly encourage you to submit an abstract. If
selected for oral or poster presentation, it will be published in
the Journal of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology. Authors of the
best abstracts will be invited to write up their abstracts as short
papers in the international journal, Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology
and Physiology.
Research Assistant Professor
The post of Research Assistant Professor has been advertised in
Nature and Circulation and is still open to applications. The appointment
is for up to 2 years and the appointee should have a PhD in Medical
Science and would be expected to undertake a project involving collaboration
among members of the Institute. Enquiries and applications to the

Annual Report
An Annual Report has been sent out to all members. Our thanks to
those members who have contributed to it. We are aware that the
list of publications of our members is not complete, and we shall
ensure that those left out of this year's report will be listed
next year.
