• Adipose tissue inflammation in the initiation of obesity-related insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases

• Adipocyte fatty acid binding protein: functions & regulation

• Adipokines and hepatokines as novel diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets for the metabolic syndrome and other obesity-related medical complications.  

• Adiponectin biology and signal transduction.

• Discovery of novel metabolic pathways using proteomics and lipidomics approaches.

• Hypoxia inducible factor 1a as a mediator of obesity-induced problems

• Genetic approaches to understand the pathogenesis of diabetic neuropathy
