Frontiers in Medical and Health Sciences Education – HKU 2011

"The wider and freer a man's general education, the better practitioner he is likely to be."
~ William Osler

In the quest to achieve the overarching aim of producing health care professionals who provide quality care for their patients, the formal learning of medicine and health sciences has far overstepped the boundaries of the conventional classroom and the traditional core subjects. It is re-evaluating how one comes to be a good doctor or nurse, and it is considering the meaning of whole person education in the widest sense: through innovative pedagogy, experiential learning, self-selected learning activities, liberal arts, humanities, ethics and law initiatives, interdisciplinary learning and social responsibility. This conference promises to be an exciting venture into holistic approaches to medical and health sciences education.

The Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong, is very pleased to extend our warmest invitation to friends and colleagues to join us in exploring the fascinating sub-themes of Educational Approaches in Medical and Health Sciences, Electives/ Special Study Module (SSM), Humanities/ Ethics and Law and Global Health.
