One of the greatest challenges which confronts us as teachers of future health professionals is how to evaluate and ensure the quality of the education which we provide. The need to ensure that our students receive sufficient factual knowledge and practical skills, whilst encouraging them to be enquiring and  analytical, and at the same time, nurturing the development of desirable professional attitudes and behaviours may seem like a great balancing act. If as educators we can set, deliver and evaluate quality standards for teaching and learning, and are able to ensure that our graduates  achieve these standards, society will be rewarded with better quality health providers, and ultimately with better quality patient care.
