Tobacco and Alcohol Control in Hong Kong and China Mainland

About the Project

Objective and Significance:

  • To study tobacco control related topics, including smoking, passive smoking and opinions on tobacco control policies. - To evaluate various tobacco control measures and smoking cessation programmes. - To study pattern of alcohol use and related factors and health outcomes.

Research Plan and Methodology:

  • Surveys and intervention and studies, including randomized controlled trials on simple intervention on smoking cessation, smoking reduction and relapse prevention, targeting smokers (including youth smokers) in Hong Kong, Guangdong and Beijing. - Service evaluation. - Surveys on prevalence of drinking and risk factors associated with drinking and related health outcomes.
