Lifestyle, Lifecourse and Molecular Epidemiology Study in Guangzhou

About the Project

Objective and Significance:

To study lifestyle, lifecourse and genetic factors for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer. One of the largest cohort of older Southern Chinese with comprehensive assessments and repeated follow up examinations. About 100 papers have been published, including mendalian randomization studies.

Research Plan and Methodology:

  • Prospective cohort study - About 30,000 subjects aged 50+, with completion of follow up of mortality up to 2013, 2nd follow up examination in progress.
