About the Project


To understanding the basic genetic mechanisms that underlie Hirschsprung disease


The understanding of the mechanisms underlying the disorder will eventually facilitate the finding of non-surgical therapies

Research Plan and Methodology:

  1. Exhaustive clinical characterization of patients
  2. Screening of candidate genes for mutations
  3. Exome sequencing (next generation sequencing) of patients devoid of mutations in candidate genes
  4. Bioinformatic analyses of the data generated
  5. Revision of the clinical characteristics of the patients
