Charity Walkathon to Raise Public Awareness on Children with Special Needs

08 December 2018

HKUMed Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine organised the ‘‘One+OneClick Run’’, a charity walkathon to raise public awareness of children with special needs. The event was named after the online platform ‘‘OneClick’’ (oneclick.hku.hk), developed and managed by the Department to provide a one-stop information hub and support service to healthcare professionals and caregivers of children with special needs, who account for at least 3.6% of the population. The OneClick platform currently covers over 400 links to support service organisations in Hong Kong. The walkathon event took place at The Arcade, Cyberport on December 8, 2018 and featured 3-km and 5-km walkathons around the area and a carnival supported by 14 non-profit organisations. Professor Sophia Chan Siu-chee, Secretary for Food and Health, delivered the opening speech and officiated the launch ceremony. The event was well received, attracting over 400 participants from the public.
