The Faculty Spring Reception was held on February 11, 2019, attended by almost 300 guests, donors, professors, honorary teachers, staff, alumni, students and friends of the Faculty. The Dean, Professor Gabriel Leung, expressed his gratitude for their support, hard work and contributions over the year. The Dean invited Professor Xiang Zhang, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKU, and Professor Karen Lam Siu-ling, Faculty Board Chairman, to join him to host the roasted pig cutting ceremony, followed by a cake decorating ceremony to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Professor Sophia Chan Siu-chee, Secretary for Food and Health; Dr Chui Tak-yi, Under Secretary for Food and Health; Professor John Leong Chi-yan, then Chairman of Hospital Authority (HA); Dr Walton Li Wai-tat, Medical Superintendent of Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital; and Dr Theresa Li Tak-lai, Cluster Chief Executive (Hong Kong West) of HA and Hospital Chief Executive of Queen Mary Hospital joined the ceremony with other Faculty members. Many donors and representatives of various self-help groups also graced the event.
