The HKUMed Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine research team has established world-leading patented technology in stem cell biology. We are now in the process of developing novel technologies that have broad applications in regenerative medicine, organ transplantation, genomic medicine, vaccines, agriculture and environmental protection. These technologies will provide enormous economic and commercial benefits and play an important role in transforming Hong Kong into a global innovative hub.
To date, we have expanded potential stem cells (EPSCs)-based animal cloning technology, and we are working on new experimental models to uncover molecular mechanisms of human cell lineage development. We are also developing genetically-defined stem cell-based models of different diseases such as heart, liver and immune diseases for various translational applications such as drug toxicity and safety testing.
To support this research, HKUMed is recruiting computational biologists and energetic research scientists who have experience in stem cells, regenerative medicine, cancer, heart disease, liver disease, animal models, immunology, embryology, genomics, genome-editing and drug screening. This is a fast-growing field of research, with many opportunities for breaking new ground.
