InnoHK is a major initiative of the Hong Kong SAR Government to develop Hong Kong as a hub for global research collaboration.
The main objective is to establish world-class research clusters at the Hong Kong Science Park, a major innovation and technology incubation hub, with research laboratories set up by world-renowned institutions and/or commercial entities to conduct collaborative research.

The HKU Global Professoriate Recruitment Campaign aims to attract about 100 stellar academics to join HKU at all ranks throughout the university, especially for those with more of a data science and/or bioinformatics background.
For the 2020 inaugural year, approximately ten (10) academics will be recruited from data science and/or big data-related fields. Strategic recruitment areas in the Faculty of Medicine include structural, synthetic and computational biology for biomedicine; stem cell and regenerative medicine; cancer biology and therapeutics; emerging infectious diseases; global health and development; and major new population health threats e.g. antimicrobial resistance; obesity; health consequences of COVID-19.
Direct tenure for Associate/Full Professor is possible, especially for those who are already tenured at their home institutions or are close to getting tenure. The standard start-up package is HKD 3 million (maximum) for STEM disciplines, with possibility of a larger start-up package for Associate/Full Professors.
