AIDS Institute contributes to Frontiers in Biomedical Research, HKU2012. Our Director Dr. Zhiwei Chen gave an invited speech on Novel Strategies of AIDS Vaccine Research in the section of "Infection and Immunology". He also chaired the section of "Key sessions for Best Research Output Awardees".

NIH-NIDA Symposium: "HIV/NeuroAIDS Treatment and Prevention Beyond HAART - Thinking Outside the Box".
Dr Zhiwei Chen, Director of HKU - AIDS Institute, was invited to present a talk, titled: "Vaccine: A Possible Solution to Protect Against HIV/NeuroAIDS" at a symposium organized by The National Institute on Drug Abuse at NIH. It is part of NIDA Neuroscience Consortium Cutting-edge seminar series. The title of the symposium is "HIV/NeuroAIDS Treatment and Prevention Beyond HAART - Thinking Outside the Box". Most of the audiences are NIH program officals and Scientific Review Officers.

Dr. Zhiwei Chen was invited to meet with Mr. Fong Yun Wah and the CEO and Director of the Wen Wei Po regarding to Dr. Chen's effort in helping the HIV infected children in Mainland China.

Dr. Zhiwei Chen was invited to speak at the Canossian Global Youth Conference 2011 for young students aged from 13 to 22 who are participating in the leadership training programme from around the world. Dr. Chen's speech regarding HIV AIDS has raised awareness among the young students.

Dr Zhiwei Chen, Director of HKU - AIDS Institute, was invited to discuss various issues including the AIDS epidemic and the lastest advancement in AIDS treatment with Professor Francoise Barre-Sinoussi, recipient of 2008 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine, and a group of 20 secondary school students.
